Description

Do you know your options for software licensing? Have you heard of new funder requirements for software sharing? This workshop is your chance to get expert advice on these and other questions about software licensing and how software produced in research is affected by the drive to open data.

We have expert presentations from the University’s Intellectual Property (IP) office, IP Solicitors Mewburn Ellis and our main speaker - Neil Chue Hong, the Director of the Software Sustainability Institute.

You are welcome to bring your questions to the workshop – there will lots of opportunities for discussion at the sessions and all the speakers will be available to speak to during the networking lunch that follows.

12.00 – 12.15: Remember that a licence is still a contract! (Sean Jauss, Mewburn Ellis LLP)

12.15 – 13.00: How does software fit into funder expectations on research data sharing? (Neil Chue Hong, Software Sustainability Institute)

  • RCUK expectations for software sharing
  • Is software commercialisation allowed in RCUK policy?
  • Software/data sharing examples in EPSRC policy




A buffet lunch will be provided from 13.00 – 14.00 where you will have the opportunity to discuss specific questions with the speakers and the University’s Research Data Management team.
